On Monday September 9, super typhoon Yagi hit Phu Tho province in Vietnam resulting in the partial collapse of Phong Chau bridge. According to Ho Duc Phoc, who is the Deputy Prime Minister, ten cars and two scooters fell under the bridge into the river, while thirteen people were declared missing. Media published photos from the site of the incident.
Part of the 375-metre bridge is still standing after the incident where part of the deck of the bridge gave way. In addition, the government ruled the military to construct immediately a temporary structure to fill the gap from the intact remains to the other side of the bridge to facilitate transportation.
It should be mentioned that Vietnam is facing extreme weather conditions, due to the crossing of Yagi typhoon. According to the authorities, due to the typhoon major damage had been reported, as ripped building roofs, uprooted trees. The authorities also added that the infrastructure of the country had been damaged. Due to this statement, photos that show the collapsed walls of the LG electronics in Hai Phong city were shared.
