An under-construction bridge in Islamabad collapsed on Thursday, March 2 for the second time within a week.
More specifically, one of the bridge’s girders tipped over and caused a domino effect, with the rest falling onto one another before breaking.
The incident was attributed to a crane slipping and luckily, no one was hurt.
It is worth mentioning that another accident occurred on the same bridge just six days earlier.
Furthermore, on February 25, a truck hit a pillar’s shuttering and caused it to collapse, causing 2 fatalities and leaving 3 more people injured.
The bridge’s foundation was laid on September 30 by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the National Logistics Cell was directed to complete the project in three months, instead of four months originally planned.
