On Tuesday January 14, a building collapsed because of a landslide on View Point Road in McCrae, approximately 59km south of Melbourne. The incident occurred at around 8:45 a.m. local time. Emergency services promptly arrived at the site to assess the situation. A worker that was at the property at the time of the incident was injured and transferred at the hospital for medical assistance. Fortunately, the worker is in stable condition.
According to the owner, last week a landslip from an above property impacted his property. Hence, it is believed that both incidents are connected. It should be noted that the building collapse onto its side, surrounded by trees and vegetation, while the family of the owner were inside Thankfully, they managed their exit without injuries or fatalities. Nick Moran the owner of the house stated that his thoughts are with the injured person and that he is thankful that no fatalities occurred. He also added that the subsequent landslip from the same property is extremely severe.
