A bridge in An Giang Province’s Mekong Delta, designed to support a maximum load of five tons, collapsed on Wednesday, November 13, after a heavily overloaded truck attempted to cross it. The incident occurred around 7 a.m. on the T6 bridge in Tri Ton District.
The truck exceeded the bridge's capacity, weighing 19 tons and loaded with 30 tons of bricks. As a result, a section of the bridge gave way, causing part of the truck to fall into the stream below. The driver, 28-year-old Doan Duc Vinh, faced no injuries.
Chairman of the Tri Ton District People’s Committee, Nguyen Van Be Tam, stated that efforts are ongoing to clear the debris and recover the truck. Traffic has been rerouted, as the T6 bridge, which had been in operation for several decades, is now closed due to the collapse.
